nMedia HTPC 180 Review July 6, 2006

Looking out for computer cases for that perfect HTPC of yours? Check out this review of the nMedia HTPC 180 case over at SFFTech.com. The actual unit reviewed was the HTPC 180SA which comes in a silver color and measures 15.5 x 5.4 x 15 inches. Yes it’s large. It’s an aluminum/steel cases with support for micro-ATX motherboards (sorry no ATX mobo’s here). You can fit one external facing 5.25 inch drive and fit 3 x 3.5 inch internal drives. There’s one 60 mm cooling fan on the inside and plenty of front panel ports. When I initially saw the picture of the front of the case, I thought it had a built in LCD display.. but alas it’s just a door covering those front ports. So here’s SFFTech’s verdict on the case:

The HTPC 180SA from the young company nMedia is overall a solid case. With some mixed initial impressions, including the flimsy top casing and the short fan controller knob, the internal design made up for some of its shortcomings. With a design of heat dissipation in mind, the HTPC will serve those willing to be at the bleeding of technology quite happy.
