Winbook Jiv Mini Review August 3, 2006
Posted by flung in : Windows Media Center, HTPC Systems , trackbackPC Magazine has posted up a review of the new Winbook Jiv Mini Windows Media Center system here on their website. This is definitely one of the coolest looking MCE boxes that I\’ve seen in recent memory. Sure there\’s been a recent flock of small boxes but this one actually looks very promising. Inside the Jiv, you\’ll find an Intel Core Duo processor which should be plenty of horsepower to run MCE applications and also perform TV encoding responsibilities. Speaking of encoding videos, the Jiv comes with a built in TV tuner thanks to a mini-PCI card inside. Other cool features include:
- 1GB of DDR2 533MHz RAM
- Built in dual layer DVD burner
- 7.1 channel audio
- Microphone
- Built in Fax Modem
- Ethernet, Wireless, and Bluetooth support
- Integrated infrared sensor
- DVI, Component, Composite out
The entire package measures 9.05\” x 7.77\” x 1.65\” and weighs only 2.69 lbs. Are there any downsides? Sure - it comes with a small 100GB HDD. Here\’s the ultimate verdict from PC Magazine:
The WinBook Jiv Mini wins Editors\’ Choice as the best mini PC Media Center. It can easily hook up to most TVs, perform DVR duties, play back your music, and act as a digital photo album.
