Acer Aspire 9805WKHi Review August 10, 2006
Posted by flung in : Windows Media Center, HTPC Systems, HTPC Laptops , trackbackPC Magazine has posted up a review of the Acer Aspire 9805WKHi Windows Media Center laptop here on their website. What’s so special about this MCE laptop? Well for one, it’s yet another laptop with a whopping 20 inch display. 17 inch displays are nothing these days as more and more companies come out with larger and larger multimedia systems. Now.. here’s the bad news - it’s one frigging heavy system - weighing in at 17.1 lbs. Other specs include:
- Intel Core Duo T2600 processor running at 2.16GHz
- 2GB of RAM
- 240GB HDD
- NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
- HD DVD-ROM/DVD+R DL
- 802.11 a/g
- Windows Media Center OS
Oh yeah - notice the inclusion of an HD DVD drive which means this system can play back HD DVD disks. Of course one would think this laptop would support 1080p resolutions but nooo… Acer in its infinite wisdom decided to throw in a display resolution of 1680 x 1050. What were they thinking? Close.. but not quite the resolution we were looking for. So here’s the verdict from PC Magazine:
Thanks to a huge 20-inch screen and an integrated HD DVD drive, the Aspire is a home theater first and a desktop-replacement PC second.
