Origen X15e HTPC Case Review August 20, 2006

I’ve been looking for a review of the Origen X15e case for some time and I finally came across one written by the good folks over at Bit-Tech. The review’s been out for a few weeks but I thought it would be good to post it here anyhow. At first glance, the X15e case looks similar to many other HTPC cases these days except for one glaring exception - the built in LCD panel in the front which also happens to be a touch screen display. The case is indeed a big case - capable of housing a full fledged ATX motherboard and three hard drives inside. As for the LCD display - you simply connect the VGA connector to your graphics card’s secondary output ( of course it would help if your video card had two outputs - one for your main display and one for the LCD built in panel). The LCD has a native resolution of 1024 x 768 with a widescreen 15:9 ratio. So what’s the verdict from Bit-Tech?

Yes, you get a gorgeous case and yes, you get a touch LCD screen in the front. But £465 for a case? The Zalman, which is every bit as good (in terms of aluminium and build quality), but lacks the screen, only costs £220
