CoolIT Home Theater PC Cooling September 16, 2006

Although liquid cooling is more common place in standard desktop PCs these days (especially for case modders out there), it’s rare that you’ll find liquid cooling in home theater system PCs. Why? Although liquid cooling would seem to be ideal for HTPCs due to their quiet operations, they’re often large in size. HTPC systems tend to be cramped in space unless you’re building a large server system that you plan on housing behind a door or furniture piece. With that in mind, the folks at CoolIT Systems have announced a new liquid cooling product designed exclusively for home theater systems. It’s called the “Home Theater PC Cooler” and it was announced at this week’s CEDIA Expo in Denver. The cooling system can be configured to work with both the processor and the graphics processor and will fit in the space reserved normally for dual three inch case fans. Finally, what makes the HTPC cooler ideal is that it comes pre-plumbed, sealed, and supposedly maintenance free. No word on pricing or availability and it’s not up on the CoolIT systems website as of yet.
