With Halloween just around the corner, the folks at the Horror Channel and Akimbo have signed a deal making content on the Horror Channel available to Akimbo subscribers.

Not familiar with Akimbo? It’s an Internet to TV Video on Demand (VOD) service which works either with a standalone RCA Akimbo Player (which will be available this month) or with Windows Media Center PCs. Under Windows Media Center, you can access Akimbo via the Online Spotlight section. If you don’t see it there - make sure to get the Update Rollup 2 for MCE.

Akimbo offers more than 13,000 on demand videos from over 200 content providers across seven languages. With the Horror Channel deal in place, gruesome and chilling movies and stories will now also be accessible from the Internet on your television set via the Akimbo service.

We mentioned the RCA Akimbo Player - it’s an Internet Video on Demand set top box which retails for $199.99. Simply connect the device to your Internet connection and subscribe to the Akimba service. It’s capable of storing 100 hours of programming and you can access the entire Akimbo service via the set top box. The Akimbo service itself will cost you $9.99 a month. Not too bad if you’re into the content provided by the service.
