HP Digital Entertainment Center z565 Review November 14, 2006

I’ve always been a fan of HP’s Digital Entertainment Centers - primarily for the look and feel of the system. They just simply look like they belong in your living room home theater system and not hidden away somewhere.
The model that PC Mag reviewed had the following major components:
- Intel 9 series (Pentium D processor)
- 2GB RAM
- 800GB of disk space
- NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS
- Dual Layer DVD+/-RW
It’s a bummer that the system still utilizes the Pentium D processor. HP would have an incredible MCE system if it would switch to the Core 2 Duo and also offer HD tuners. Here’s the verdict:
I highly recommend the DEC z565, the latest in a series of digital entertainment centers from HP. TV/PC junkies will love it; only a lack of HD DVD compatiblity keeps it from gaining a better score.
The HP Digital Entertainment Center z565 still managed to garner an Editor’s Choice award from PC Magazine.
