PROLINK Microsystems introduces two new TV tuners utilizing PCI-E and certified for Vista November 27, 2006

PROLINK Microsystems Corporation has announced two new TV tuners designed for PCI Express architectures and also happen to be certified for Microsoft Windows Vista. The tuners are the PlayTV-Cinema BX1500 and the PlayTV Cinema BX2500.
Both tuners are what PROLINK calls “Hybrid Tuners” featuring support for both global analog and digital television systems. The main difference between the two products lies with the MPEG2 encoder. The BX1500 uses a software encoder while the BX2500 has a hardware based MPEG2 encoder. Here are the specs on the two products.

- Hardware MPEG2 encoder
- Supports BTSC and SAP stereo
- 16 bit audio ADC

- Supports VHF, UHF

- Works for Windows XP, MCE 2005, Vista MCE
