Experiencing HDTV on your PC December 10, 2006
Posted by flung in : BeyondTV, TV Tuners, DIY HTPC, HDTV, HTPC Laptops , trackbackAre you interested in watching over the air (OTA) HDTV on your PC but you’re not sure where to start? Check out this article over at PC Magazine entitled “HD on a PC”. It’s a DIY project where they retrofit an older Pentium 4 2.8GHz system and turn it into an HDTV DVR system.
Some of the hardware that they added on included:
- DViCO FusionHDTV 4 RT Lite PCI card
- Philips Silver Sensor UHF Antenna
- BeyondTV 4.4 software
This project reminds me of a project I’d like to embark on one of these days which is to purchase a cheap PC that’s slightly older.. and then turn it into an DVR Media Server system. For that system, I’d also like to run BeyondTV mostly because of it’s ability to automatically convert recorded content into DviX format. That box would essentially be a media server - producing content for my other computers on the network - many of which are Windows Media Center PCs.
One of these days!
Anyhow, make sure to read the PC Mag article for insight on how to add HDTV DVR capabilities to your PC.
